Launching the UK’s first EIS fund focused on female founders
Don’t invest unless you’re prepared to lose all the money you invest. This is a high-risk investment and you are unlikely to be protected if something goes wrong
While established studies by Boston Consulting Group and Kauffman Foundation have shown that women-run businesses are often more capital efficient and can deliver higher return on investment (ROI) than male-founded startups, there is a massive gap in the funding they receive.
In fact, Beauhurst reported that in the UK in Q1 2024, 86% of capital went to all-male founding teams, 12% to mixed gender founding teams, and a mere 1.8% to all-female teams.
Clearly, there is an inefficiency when it comes to the deployment of venture capital into startups, and with research from academics from the Universities of Glasgow and Leicester showing that companies with more than 30% female executives are more likely to outperform those that don’t have female representation at the top, there could be an opportunity for investors to capitalise alongside those already in the know.
Angel Academe is the UK’s first angel network for female founders, and what’s more, over 50% of their current investee businesses address one or more of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Taken together, their portfolio has seen more than £150m in co-investment.
And now there’s a chance for you to join them.
The Angel Academe Fund I launch webinar is your opportunity to learn more about the new fund launched in partnership between SyndicateRoom and Angel Academe, focused on backing incredible female-founded startups. The webinar will start with a general overview of the fund, followed by a conversation between Angel Academe co-founder Sarah Turner and SyndicateRoom co-founder Tom Britton, before opening to your questions.
