Elliott is an experienced finance professional with a penchant for startups. They seem to like him too and well they should, because he’s helped startups raise more than £500 million and led finance teams from pre-revenue to £40 million EBITDA.

As an accountant and CFO, Elliott leads Standard Ledger’s UK business, bringing accounting as a service to UK-based startups. With the energy of 5 traditional accountants, the nous of a COO and a passion for solving business problems, he’s also on a mission to prove accountants can be operators, too.

Nic Lenz

Business Mentor & Angel Investor,


Nic is a strategic advisor in the technology start-up space and holds a number of non-executive board positions. He has been involved in successfully raising funds for a number of cleantech & fintech companies from pre-Seed to Series A.

Nic is a business mentor at various tech hubs including Carbon13, Undaunted, Barclays Rise and Level39. He has extensive experience in fundraising, developing go-to-market strategies, governance and enterprise engagement.

He is an Angel investor focussed on cleantech and fintech with 22 portfolio companies and two exits.

Ben Davies

Group Marketing Director, Praetura Group


Ben is the group marketing director for Praetura and oversees all aspects of their marketing output and strategy, including press and online.

Praetura Ventures is an award-winning VC, born-and-bred in the North of England. Praised for its early backing of northern success stories such as Peak, XR Games and Culture Shift, the Manchester-based VC has now become known for its ‘more than money’ approach to supporting early-stage founders post investment. Praetura’s portfolio companies benefit from active mentorship from the company’s operational partners, who are industry-heavyweights that have led businesses such as AO, ANS, Apple, Dr Martens, OSTC and MPP Global.

Boasting over 10 years’ industry experience, Ben also works closely with our portfolio companies, providing marketing expertise and more than money support. Before Praetura, he headed up the marketing for Social Chain’s media division around the time of its IPO. Ben also co-founded the alternative coffee shop and co-working space Ziferblat UK.
