Dorset Business Angels Pitch Event
Dorset Business Angels continue to offer opportunities to Investors and to support innovative early stage businesses.
Join us for networking from 5.30pm in the Causerie Suite, enjoy refreshments whilst meeting and catching up with fellow investors, DBA sponsors and the DBA team. The pitch presentations will start at 6.15pm with an introduction from our Chairman, Don McQueen.
Five carefully selected companies seeking investment, will make a 15 minute pitch each, after which there is time for Q&A. Then, expressions of interest from Angel Investors are registered for further action. Once the pitch presentations are finished, those staying for dinner, will enjoy a 2 course private meal with wine and a chance to start new conversations and continue those started earlier in the evening.
The 5 pitches are confirmed as follows:
Pitch 1: Market Sector: Event Booking
An online marketplace gives an easy way to choose, book and pay for innovative activities and experiences online.
The experience booking market is extremely fragmented with no easy way for consumers to book activities and experiences for any occasion, all in one place. Customers are expected to pay upfront often with strict cancellation fees and policies giving them little or no flexibility in the event that their circumstances change.
This Company offers a highly curated online experience platform that allows users to effortlessly choose, book and pay for thousands of activities in a few short clicks.
Unlike other booking sites, they charge no fees or mark-ups for customers, who can choose the deposit option that suits their group, together with free cancellation outside of 14 days as standard.
In revenue and growing fast, they now have over 2,000 listed experiences in more than 40 cities across Europe and the UK. They have well over 250, 4.5-star ratings on Trust Pilot signifying high customer satisfaction.
They now seek £500K to sustain the current rate of growth.
Pitch 2: Market Sector: Financial Services
Digital financial advice to the UK, helping customers manage their affairs inexpensively.
The financial services marketplace still remains focused on wealthy individuals, who can afford the high fees that these services generate.
This Company has built a ‘free-to-use’ platform to help its customers achieve their financial goals by giving them access to tailored financial planning, together with high-quality products and solutions. Their target market is the 15 million UK adults, who are willing to pay for digital advice, many having previously enjoyed access to financial advice but can no longer afford it.
The latest technology now makes it possible to integrate high-quality, low- cost 3rd party digital products and solutions onto their platform.
The Directors are seeking £300K out of a £1.3M funding round to finalise and launch their MVP by the autumn.
Pitch 3: Market Sector: Ready to Serve
Natural, quality, tasty, canned cocktails, craft spirits and wine for the growing ready to serve market.
This Company is one of the first to launch a ‘ready-to-serve’ (RTS) alcohol product into a global market that is forecast to grow at 43% YoY over the next 5 years.
Their products deliver unique and innovative flavours made with high-quality natural ingredients, all ethically sourced & sustainably produced with the convenience needed to fit the busiest lifestyle.
They are currently raising £600K – of which nearly £400K is committed – which will be used for manufacturing, advertising and promotion and growing the team.
Pitch 4: Market Sector: Medical Aids
Real time data, reports and analytics for clinicians – to transform the diagnosis, treatment and care of knee patients, worldwide.
40% of all adults over 55 suffer from chronic knee pain and 2.6million adults a year have a knee replacement operation. Unfortunately, one in five knee replacement patients say they are not satisfied with their treatment and 35% fail to meet their mobility goals.
This Company provides transformative diagnosis, treatment and long-term recovery for knee replacement patients with an innovative smart knee sleeve, using sensors to measure precise movement in real time, augmented with powerful AI to analyse patient’s condition and supported by clinician dashboards that provide simple advice for patients, with issue alerts and feedback to report pain and progress.
Having validated the hardware, assembled a panel of industry experts to act as advisors and gained FDA approval, the management are seeking to raise £780K to take the product to market.
Pitch 5: Market Sector: Advanced Drone Technology
Industrial heavy-lift drones with tried and tested components for the most extreme conditions.
This Company has successfully demonstrated that only engine-powered drones will be able to compete with helicopter operations in key markets such as logistics, offshore operations, agriculture, and firefighting.
Any such solution requires a robust and efficient transmission system between the engine and the multiple rotors and must be able to allow the ‘aircraft’ to fly for hours rather than minutes. The Company’s patented lightweight hybrid system addresses this need and has the potential to become the industry standard in this fast-growing market.
Successful demonstrations to a large number of OEMs and are about to secure first orders from a large helicopter manufacturer.
The management are now seeking £350K to ramp up production.
