UKBAA is looking for a Business and Community Development Manager to join the team


Business and Community Development Manager, London, £35k-£40k

We are the UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA), the national trade body for angel and early stage investing, representing 220 member organisations and hundreds of individual angels. Every year our members invest over £2bn in exciting, high-growth, UK-based businesses. As well as our members, we work with national industry stakeholders to:

  • Improve connectivity for our industry by holding multiple flagship events throughout the year, managing an online deal-sharing platform and supporting 6 Angel Hubs around the UK.
  • Train and support our industry with training and awareness workshops, best-practice guides, a new e-learning course and face-to-face support.
  • Protect and represent our community through nationwide research projects, working groups and round tables and responses to key government white papers.
  • Champion our industry through awareness raising and knowledge sharing.

We’re looking for an ambitious Business and Community Development Manager to join our team to continue to grow and support our growing community of Angels and Angel Groups, Investment Funds, Online Investment Platforms, Accelerators and key industry partners.

You must have a genuine interest in the early-stage investment market, be someone that loves to build rapport and relationships whilst having the confidence to work alongside both founders and investors operating at the top of their game.

Your role will involve:

  • Working closely with our existing members to constantly improve and grow our membership proposition, improving membership engagement and ultimately retention.
  • Being the centre of our membership communication strategy and core value proposition.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of high-quality opportunities across membership and corporate partnership and sponsorship, whilst owning the full sales cycle from first contact through to close.
  • Taking the time to truly understand the needs and business priorities of our key stakeholders, partners and members.
  • Support the vision and values of the company and maintaining a growth mindset and positive attitude.
  • As a national trade association, you will be able and willing to travel around the UK as the need arises.

We’d like someone with ambition, drive and who is keen to show their passion for quality and who always looks to bring innovation to their work.

You must have:

  • Appreciation for the early-stage capital marketplace and the ability to learn and understand why and how each of our stakeholders engages with our service offering.
  • Enjoy networking and talking with new people, all the way up to senior Executive level
  • Love of and basic understanding of technology, including CRMs!
  • Like to work independently, but love being part of a close-knit team that cheers each other on.
  • At least 3 years of successful outside sales/business development experience.
  • Excellent articulator and communicator – both written and verbally.
  • Usually have a business or other related degree.

The details:

  • Hybrid and flexible working with a London base plus travel when needed
  • 35 hours per week (9-5)
  • £35-40K salary depending on experience
