From an expansive view of the high growth potential of the creative sector, to pinpointing the explosive sub sectors putting the UK on the global map, Invest in Creative toolkit equips investors with up-to-date information, guidance and resources to enable them to effectively invest in innovative scaling creative industries businesses.
Culture Minister Caroline Dinenage said:
“The creative industries make a huge contribution to our economy and are central to our plans to build back better from the pandemic. The Invest in Creative Toolkit will help increase investor awareness of the enormous potential in the creative industries across the country and support even more businesses to scale-up.”
Irene Graham OBE, Chief Executive, ScaleUp Institute, said:
“The creative industries are worth £111bn in GVA to the UK economy, with over 1,600 scaleups and scaling businesses generating £43bn in turnover each year. The creative sector is expanding at three times the national average in other industries but creative scaleups continue to face challenges in accessing the capital they need to continue their growth journey. The Invest in Creative toolkit is designed to build investor awareness of the sector through peer experience; encourage more angel and follow-on investors into the sector and shine a light on one of the key high potential growth areas of the UK economy.”
Jenny Tooth OBE, CEO of UK Business Angels Association said:
“Scaling businesses in the creative industries offer huge opportunities for investment. Yet many investors have not yet recognised the growth and investment potential of businesses in the sector. With this in mind, we have developed this investor focused toolkit drawing on the experience and in-depth insights of 55 investors, industry experts and successful founders in the creative industries and key subsectors of games, music, media tech and fashion, combined with infographics and downloadable resources. Our aim is to significantly increase the knowledge and understanding of investing in the sector, attracting many more existing investors as well as recruiting new investors to back creative scale-ups here in the UK.
