Tech Angels at Google Campus

On 20th June UKBAA partnered with HoxTech Angels for Tech Angel Forum at Google Campus in East London. The objective was to attract more investors into the tech sector and to educate them on how to manage risk in this highly exciting area of investment.

Our own, Jenny Tooth kicked off with a key note speech in which she sang the praises of London as a tech startup hub and explained why we should be taking a more sector specific approach with areas such as Fintech and Fashtech taking a lead.

Paul Dowling and Marina Atarova, co-founders of Dreamstake, then led a workshop on the do’s and don’ts of tech investing. This got a very strong response from the capacity audience of over 120 potential tech angels.

The final speaker was Martin Bloom who is an established tech investor who was able to relate his own experiences in the field and offer some invaluable advice.

The final session was a panel discussion with Q&A from the audience. Jenny and Paul were joined by Swen Lorenz of Master investor and Martin acted as the moderator.

The main takeaway from the session was that tech angel investing can deliver a very High return of up to 25% but needs to be approached cautiously to diversify risk. Hopefully the advice from the speakers and panel would help all the participants benefit from the tech boom.
