Joelson Wilson hosts IP workshop with the London College of Fashion

Jo Gregory (Partner and Head of Fashion & Retail Team) and Hayley Cross (Corporate & Commercial Solicitor) recently held a workshop in partnership with the London College of Fashion. A number of fashion designers came to JW’s offices to hear Jo and Hayley speak about intellectual property issues in supply agreements. The presentation was particularly focussed on an EU wide initiative, the Worth Project being spear headed by the L’Institut Francais de la Mode in France and the London College of Fashion in the UK. As well as providing an overview of intellectual property law, we discussed the importance of having in place written agreements and the differences between licensing and assigning intellectual property to another party. The morning was an opportunity for the designers to ask questions about the legal aspects of the project they are involved in and also to meet Louise Mullane from the London College of Fashion and other contributors to the project.
