OION celebrates 20 years

Investors, VC’s and other guests travelled from across the country to gather at St John’s College, Oxford on Thursday 10 April 2014 to celebrate 20 years of Oxford Investment Opportunity Network.

Following the drinks reception held within the picturesque Canterbury Quadrangle, guests were greeted with a lavish four course meal in the spectacular Dining Hall which dates back to the 16th Century.

After dinner, guests were fortunate enough to hear from Lady Audrey Wood who spoke on the subject of “Business angels – working with innovative companies from garage, loft and lab to growth and IPO”. As guest speaker, Lady Wood spoke of the challenges she, along with her husband Sir Martin Wood, faced when creating Oxford Instruments and of some of the investments they made as Angels in the years following Oxford Instruments stock market flotation. The speech was greatly received and many spoke in great admiration of Lady Wood. The evening was rounded off with networking until late in the convivial college bar.
