£1.5bn invested in 2013 – best year on record for UK equity investment

According to the annual Beauhurst UK Equity Investment Review, 2013 saw 652 equity deals secured into 500 of the UK’s fastest growing companies. Of these 652 deals, 472 were deals with disclosed investment amounts, which totalled a staggering £1.5bn in investment.

Average deal size did not perform as well. The effect of deal numbers rising at a disproportionally faster rate than annual investment caused average deal size to fall consistently to an all-time low, leaving average deal size 45% smaller than the size seen only two years ago, back in 2011.
