Richard Anson

Venture Partner, Octopus Ventures

Operating at the intersection of entrepreneurship, investment and academia, I am passionate about supporting ventures that solve humanity’s most pressing problems.

I have worked with over 40 ventures (including co-founding my own), with many raising multiple funding rounds.

I am probably best known for my strategic skills with the ability to rapidly distil what is important from complexity, solve problems creatively, build strategic partnerships, communicate difficult concepts simply to an audience, combined with a belief in customer centricity and the ability to make things happen.

Co-founder of Reevoo where I was CEO for 6 years leading the business through multiple funding rounds, securing some 300 brands as customers before moving to a Non-Exec role and supporting the business through to sale.

I started life as a geologist, before joining 3i in the world of venture capital before “tech was cool”. This was followed by a PhD in engineering geology, time as a post-doc researcher and a spell in industry before doing an MBA. Immediately after the 2000 dot com crash, I joined KPMG’s Information Communication and Technology practice as a strategy consultant where I was seconded to Orange as interim head of group planning, covering 22 countries. After a four year stint, I left KPMG to co-found Reevoo.
