Homeppl, the tenant referencing platform and HBSAAL startup laureate, raised $2m
Investors in this round: Ascension Ventures, Fair By Design, and JLR Star
The Harvard Business School Alumni Angels of London (HBSAAL) would like to congratulate Homeppl, a tenant referencing system startup that raised at the March 2019 HBSAAL pitch event, for their ongoing success.
Founded by Alexander Siedes, Homeppl provides a tenant referencing platform that assesses the UK’s 15 million tenants’ real risk level enabling letting agents to fast-track growth without the risk of fraud, default, or delays. The system leverages Open Banking, proprietary behavioural analysis and fraud detection tests to assess the financial situation of potential tenants and ability to afford rent.
Homeppl could allow up to 5 million tenants who are currently rejected by the system to pass checks. These “invisible” consumers include the self-employed, international students and expats. Homeppl also boosts the security of landlords by catching the 1.5% of applications that are fraudulent.
The Barclays Techstars company serves renown letting businesses, including Knight Frank and the Countrywide Group. It has approved more than £1bn of revenue to its clients.
Homeppl recently raised $2 million from Ascension Ventures, Fair By Design, and JLR Star. The company will use the funds to continue its growth in the UK rental market, adding staff in R&D, operations, and sales.
