Angels of the North: Female Founders & Investors
NorthInvest is on a mission to connect female founders in tech with female investors who want to help them get ahead.
In 2018, NorthInvest partnered with UK British Angels Association (UKBAA) to understand the barriers holding female investors and founder back and created the Angels of the North: Female Founders & Investors community. The series is an informal get-together where female founders and investors can be inspired by female business leaders sharing their experience and insights on all things business ownership, start-up success, and angel investment.
For this session, we invite the brilliant Becky Baker, Founder of K9 Nation to share her entrepreneurial story with the room before opening a wider discussion on the challenges of entrepreneurship during COVID-19, and what valuable support for female entrepreneurs really looks like.
Guest Speaker: Becky Baker, Founder, K9 Nation
Becky Baker is Founder of K9Nation, a web platform and mobile app that connects dog owners and dog-friendly businesses and services. In 2019, Becky and her cockapoo Buddy set off on a 2,500 mile trip to discover the most dog-friendly spaces in the UK (talk about market research!) From there, the K9 Nation platform was born.
K9 Nation provides dog owners free access to all the information they might need to help them remove the lifestyle restrictions of dog ownership and include their dog in their life as much or as little as they want.
Having recently completed a fundraise, Becky will be sharing her top tips for overcoming business challenges, and share the highs (and the lows) of owning a tech business.
