Angels@Essex two years of successful growth supporting the UK economy

Angels@Essex, since its launch during the pandemic in May 2020, has provided one to one mentoring support to 350 innovative founders and 38 of these have gone forward to raise £17.1m of committed equity investment. A further 15 funding rounds raised £9.5m, making £26.6m in total investment facilitated to date. Additionally, 1,239 founders attended the regular online investment readiness webinars and two of our Pitch It day events were televised by Brit Asia TV for later transmission. Angels@Essex has achieved national recognition for the support work it has provided, is recognised by the British Business Bank and its successes are recorded on Beauhurst, the industry monitoring service for investment worldwide.

Angels@Essex entrepreneurs success stories

Congratulations to three businesses from the Angels@Essex platform who have recently won prestigious awards:

  • CEO and Founder of insure tech Arma Karma, Ben Smyth, scooped the title of Young Achiever of the Year at the British Insurance Awards 2022. Arma Karma has raised £500,000 whilst on our platform.
  • Invited to marketing event MAD//Fest 2022, WYSPR took the McCormick innovation competition prize of £20,000; see their pitch and why the jury picked them. WYSPR has raised £450,000 whilst on our platform.
  • The company MyPart was selected to present at the Future of AI summit 2022 Startup Competition, winning both the jury and the audience votes. MyPart has also raised £1.25m whilst on our platform.
