British Business Investments

British Business Investments, as a commercial subsidiary of the British Business Bank, aims to improve access to alternative finance for smaller businesses across the whole of the UK, while supporting the UK’s transition to a net zero economy and generating a return for the UK taxpayer.

We do not finance smaller businesses directly, but instead work with the market to provide funding through our delivery partners, who offer programmes across a variety of sectors, regions and business stages.

We have made commitments in excess of £3bn to our delivery partners across various sectors including debt funds, asset finance lenders, challenger banks, FinTech, fund of funds and angel investors. Our Regional Angels Programme is a £285m fund helps reduce regional imbalances in access to early stage equity finance for smaller businesses across the UK. The Programme co-invests alongside early stage investors across the UK, and over the last four years, we’ve made commitments totalling £185m to 13 delivery partners, of which £87m has been invested into 450 companies.
